The Garden as Experience

Arrival is walled and quiet. From the court the ground steps down with the house — paths, planted edges and level changes that reveal the site gradually rather than all at once.

Lower down, the lawn opens and the planting gives way to the canyon. Mature palms frame the outlook without closing it. Late in the day the whole garden turns warm, and the hillside becomes the room you want to be in.
